I want to elaborate that I have no problem with people who do reference my work or take inspiration from it. There’s a degree to which it is acceptable, and some artists are far less stringent about it than others. I am fairly laid-back in this regard. It has happened before, and every time I have been utterly and wholly flattered/unbothered by it. As long as it helps you grow, please do it.

But this particular instance is different for a number of reasons, most that I never wanted to pull into the public eye, nor do I feel some of you would believe or understand; I’m not going to give any details. It just puts a pit in my stomach. If Terra is reading this, I hope she understands why this happened, and can respect my wishes from now on.

This is the last you’ll hear of this incident. I’m sorry.

Some points to remember as an artist who is getting harassed over content:

  1. The Harasser probably isn’t an artist, otherwise they would just make the content they wanted to see, and would understand art and artists enough to know that content controlling is bullshit.
  2. The button that silences this person has more power than this person will ever have. Use it. Blocking people who upset or offend you is A-okay. And the only way you can see them getting their diapers in a twist is if you go looking, which is on you. You control what you see and do, no one else.
  3. These people wouldn’t do this in person, so remember they’re cowards behind a computer thinking they can just get what they want. They can’t. They’re not allowed.
  4. You worked years for what you have. Have it.

I’ve been doing it and i have like, 0 hate on my inbox :>

I came from the days that blocking meant you were a whiny idiot who can’t “take criticism” so its nice to see this. There’s nothing wrong with cleaning the junky people out of your life.

When I come back from doing pure studio work to social media to express myself artistically, you can bet I will be wielding that block button. I’m going to draw what I love and no amount of bullying or slander is going to slow me down. :)

Anonymous asked:

Hey ryuko, sorry to say but, according to the bible, homosexuality is a sin and those who practice it can't go to heaven (Leviticus 18:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9). It may look unloving to not support it, but encouraging people to continue doing something that will keep them from heaven is not loving at all. How much does someone have to hate someone to know they could go to hell and say nothing about it. our lives on earth are only an extremely small part on an endless rope. Sorry about this.

ryukodragon answered:

I remember being taught these very same things, anon.  Let me explain why I disagree with you, and still say that I follow our Father in His teachings.

The common phrase I recall is “love the sinner, hate the sin”.  It seemed sensible enough - by teaching people that what they DO is wrong, you show how much you care for their immortal soul.  And it’s true, I DID once believe that this was okay, and applied to everything, including lying, cheating, and homosexuality.

However, I have learned a lot about homosexuality and LGBT+ people in general since then.  This is not something they choose.  This is, as science has proven, how they are built.  It is in their biology, their chemistry, and who knows that better than anyone else?

Our Father.  Our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Our Creator, who knows everything about who we are and who we will be before we are born into this world.

And when you tell people that the way their mortal bodies are built is a sin against God… well, that doesn’t feel very loving.  In fact, it drives many of these people to depression, hiding away, and even suicide.  To them, hearing things like this means that there is no redemption for them.  How is that love?

The verses you’ve provided are indeed in the Bible.  They have been studied and interpreted hundreds of ways for hundreds of years.  There is one thing about these verses, however, that makes them, in my personal views and beliefs, less important.

They are not the words of Christ.  And the words of Christ are pretty easy to understand, without years of study and debate.

When asked how we can follow Christ to the home He has prepared for us, He answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“ (John 14:6)

When asked what the greatest commandment is by the religious leaders of the time, Christ said, “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40)

When Jesus is about to be taken away to be crucified, He tells His disciples one more message, the last-minute, most important cornerstone of all of His teaching: “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.  A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:33-35)

No mention of old laws.  No mention of homosexuality, transgender, ace, any of that.  No mention of who should lead the congregation.  This is all taught by the Savior Himself.  That’s what makes it worth listening to.

I’m not discounting the rest of the Bible - there are plenty of good teachings there too.  However, so much of it gets argued and misinterpreted, for better and for worse.  That’s why the words of Jesus Christ are so important - EVERYTHING should be based on His words.  If we are to save the immortal souls of others, as well as our own, we should be listening to what our Savior is trying to teach us Himself.

The world’s facing a lot of upheaval and pain right now,  We need to support each other, to love one another, so that our Father’s love and peace can be shared to everyone, as He calls us to do.

In closing, I encourage you all to read through this passage, 1 Corinthians 13.  While not the words of Christ, these words echo His intentions for us, and I pray they offer you the same peace and comfort I have drawn from them.

This is actually really, really important to me. My little brother is 13 and he just got Overwatch. He’s played online games in the past such as Counter Strike, TF2, and others, and I ALWAYS worry about someone being mean to him. He’s really sensitive and takes people’s words to heart really easily. Please, before you get mad at someone in a game, consider that you might be playing with a child. In fact, don’t be mean to anyone in a game. Everyone has different learning levels and play styles, just take the time to relax and enjoy the game.

i never thought of this before shit

What with how people are on pc right now, please keep this in mind.

For the love of God, I can’t stress how important this is. I have had people telling me that I was a waste of life and to go kill myself all because I made one mistake in a match, despite the fact we were winning. It’s really no skin off my nose, I usually apologize and try another match, but if that was directed at a small child, it might ruin their entire experience, not to mention seriously hurt their feelings.
Most adults can take this stuff but these are children that we’re talking about here. Kids who might look at Genji, not necessarily as an asset, but as a cool ninja with a robot suit. 9 year old girls who look at Mercy and want to play the pretty angel and try healing. But for heaven’s sake, this is a video game first and foremost, and anyone should have the right to pick up and play the game without having to combat verbal abuse just because they might be new or made a mistake. If you’re going to scold one another, keep it in the competitive ranked matches. Those are far more serious. I understand the frustration, we have all wanted to yell at eachother for making idiotic decisions in this game, hell, even I have. All I’m saying is to think twice. Just stop yourself and think before you start yelling at somebody who may seriously just have no idea what they’re doing. Games are for fun, keep it that way.

TLDR: In the grand scheme of things, it’s not worth it to be cruel to eachother in Overwatch and you’re doing far more damage in the real world than that “idiotic” person is doing in a virtual one.
